First off, let me say that I have definatley been inactive the last 2 weeks or so. Uni has started up again. With new learning about NMR. While I have worked in labs in the past and used this technology to identify my compound. Im learning more about the intricacies of this type of analysis. It's actually much more complicated than I originally thought.
While I have known for years just how relevant these techniques have been, I have failed to appreciate just how much information they can give you once you are able to properly interpret the data.

chemistry from the begining
I'm not sure about anyone else, but I never did chemistry in high school. For me, jumping into chemistry was daunting and something new. It was something I was always interested in but didn't try because I got sucked into doing another course. Chemistry was something completely different to anything I had been exposed to in the past. While it seemed daunting, I was ready for a challenge. I was lucky enough to have enrolled myself into a fundamental class, which taught all the basics of chemistry before jumping into the deep end with topics no student had ever seen in high school.
If you, like me had never done chemistry in high school, I would highly recommend taking such a course. It makes the world of difference in the future. in second semester of first year, things became slightly more intense theory wise with the course content moving much more rapidly. Despite the quickness of the theory, the course organic course was very interesting, and increased my desire for organic chemistry.
Despite the theory being fantastic, the labs were not so fantastic. I came from a research background (having done psychology at high levels), I found that the lab course at my particular university was not teaching my the skills that I wanted to learn. While I understand that they must cater for people who have absolutely no idea what they are doing (or people who perhaps lack common sense), it is unfair to treat everyone in such a way.
Anyway, enough of my whining. While it still takes me time to get around certain functional groups, I have found myself having so many wonderful tutors, lecturers and mentors.

Intro
Struggling with organic chemistry? While I am not a tutor or an expert in organic chemistry, chances are you have stumbled across this blog while desperately looking for help and answers to your many organic questions. As I have found in the past, not only are finding answers in the one spot difficult to find, but answers explained clearly without jargon are often very difficult to find in one place. Like you, I too have found myself looking for specific websites while trying to frantically study for exams- to no avail I must add.
That is where I hope I can help. I will post as much information on my own experiences of organic chemistry, as well as provide hints and tricks that worked for myself not only while preparing for exams but also throughout the semester.
I am also willing to share notes with you guys, for a small fee, to help as many discover the wonders of organic chemistry that I have discovered over the last few years.
So let the journey begin....
